  • IBCLC, or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, helps with all stages of the feeding journey and is the highest credential one can earn in the breastfeeding field.  At Milk and Cookies Lactation, LLC, we are both registered nurses turned IBCLCs and have a passion for educating families and assisting them with their goals.  We can help from prenatal care to starting your breastfeeding journey to introducing solids to weaning.  We assist with positioning, painful latches, bottle refusal, pumping schedules, returning to work, low milk supply/oversupply, and can refer out as needed.  Most importantly, we are on YOUR team to make breastfeeding work for YOU.

  • We will dive into your health history, address your feeding concerns, provide education, and support your feeding goals.  Typically, we will assess a feeding either at the breast or with a bottle depending on your feeding goals.  We can perform a weighted feed to assess transfer if applicable as well as observe a pump session.  We will send you a care plan after your visit to reference what we talked about. After your appointment, feel free to message us for the next 2 weeks with any questions regarding your current care plans.  If questions that require more than a quick response, or if new concerns have developed, we’ll ask you to book a follow up appointment to best help you.

  • We will send you forms to fill out ahead of time so we have some background information to start. Feed your baby normally that day, if your baby isn’t quite ready to feed at the start of the visit, there will be plenty of time to observe a feeding.  Have all your supplies that you have been using near by (nipple shield, pump, nursing pillow, etc).  It is helpful to have some milk in a bottle to supplement with if needed (this can be your expressed milk, donor breast milk or formula depending on your current feeding plan).

  • We are not currently in network with any insurance providers.  We require payment at time of service and we will provide you with a superbill after your appointment that you can submit to your insurance.  Though most insurances should reimburse for breastfeeding support services under the Affordable Care Act, we cannot guarantee that your insurance will reimburse.

  • If you cancel within the 48 hours before your scheduled appointment, you will be charged a $75 fee.  If you cancel within 24 hours, or a “no show” for a virtual appointment, the full visit fee will be charged.  In the event of illness or emergencies for either party or severe weather (for in home), every effort will be made to reschedule services at another time.  Please reach out to us ASAP if this is the situation.
